LuxWrap refinished 62m ICON capping rails using a combination of wood grain architectural film with high gloss paint protection film.

This 62 meter ICON (sister vessel of another ICON which we wrapped the hull of) contacted us after UV exposure had severely damaged the varnish on its wooden capping rails. Rather than undergo the high cost and downtime of traditional revarnishing, they turned to us for a more efficient and lasting solution.

We precisely matched the color and grain of the original wood with a premium architectural vinyl, then overlaid it with a high-gloss paint protection film. The finish was virtually indistinguishable from freshly varnished wood, and was both durable and replaceable.

The results exceeded expectations, and within a season the vessel requested additional areas to be wrapped in the same way.

As demonstrated in the photographs, some work was executed while the vessel remained afloat, utilising harnesses and some was done in a yard with a cherry picker.

This project underscores our ability to deliver results efficiently, even in challenging environments.
